About this speaker
My name is Sheila Blatchford and I have been a member of Fulfilling Lives Newcastle Gateshead Experts by Experience Network for about 3 years now. I was introduced to the Network After a turbulent 3 months where I lost my purpose in life, I had nothing to do, and no one to do it for. I have always been a very involved person, family, friends, work and relationships. During this period I became involved in a mental health organisation where I took part in social activities and training classes, to improve my confidence and outlook.
The last course I took part in with them was a Peer Research Training course which was through the Fulfilling Lives Newcastle Gateshead Research and Evaluation team. On completion of the course and a well-received accompanying research project I joined the Experts by Experience Network, which I have been very involved in over the last three years - working on co-produced projects with the DWP, Gateshead LA safeguarding team and internal / external recruitment processes.
