Delivering homes and building communities: A showcase of three innovative housing models (1 hour 5 minutes)
A Talk by Caroline Gore-Booth , Jamie Gill and Sara Rees
About this Talk
This session will showcase three innovative projects working to provide good quality homes and a sense of community to those who need them. We will hear about: - Social Bite Village in Scotland, a purpose-built "village" of 10 ‘NestHouses’ – each shared by two residents plus an additional unit for staff, and a large central Community Hub, where residents can cook, eat and socialise together, and take part in training, support and social activities. - Launchpad in Bristol, student housing uniting University of Bristol students with young people at risk of homelessness to develop sustainable and interconnected communities under the roof of cutting edge, inspired housing design. - Giroscope in Hull, a project that buys and renovates empty property to provide secure and affordable accommodation to those in housing need, encouraging prospective tenants to be involved in the renovation of their homes.
